We are mason & Rafi, The duo behind masonxmata.

I went full time into photography at the ripe age of 17, and haven’t looked back since. It’s been twelve years now, and I can say honestly that I’ve grown to love photography more and more with each passing season.

My journey in photography began in the ever-expanding space muck where our souls are infused with sprinkles of the things that light our soul on fire. At the age of 11 i was gifted a small digital camera, vast prairie skies alive with thunder and aurora and pink winter sunrises danced before my lens. I’ve been wandering with eyes wide open to wonder ever since. Following my vocation has kept that curious, bold, and inspired childs’ spirit alive and proud of all of the versions of self and art she’s expressed along her way.

rafi grew up in tropical mountain tops where his eyes and imagination were imprinted by the vivid colours and expressions of the jungle. he spent many years of his life working and learning from biologists who dedicated their lives to documenting the behavioural relationships of love that exist in our natural world. this has given him the creativity and vision to capture the natural ways of human love through motion.

we live half of the year in squamish / Vancouver island where we get to express our creativity by documenting love stories, and the other half in costa rica on a mountaintop in the jungle where we run an outdoor education & reforestation non-profit. we are living a life full of gratitude, a life meant for us.
